About TrainFinder™
One place to compare prices on O gauge trains — across every dealer, every marketplace, every listing. New and used. Updated daily.
Why We Built This
If you have ever tried to find the best price on an O gauge locomotive, you know the drill: open eBay, check Trainz, check a few dealer websites, compare prices in your head, and hope you did not miss a better deal somewhere else.
We built TrainFinder because that process is broken. No one should have to open six browser tabs to find out where a Lionel Berkshire is cheapest.
TrainFinder searches 10+ O gauge retailers and eBay, compares their prices side by side, and shows you the cheapest option with a direct link to buy. That is it. No tricks, no hidden fees, no ads disguised as results. Just real prices from real sellers, sorted lowest first.
How It Works
How to Use TrainFinder
Search for a Specific Train
Type any combination of brand, model name, SKU, or road name into the search bar. For example: “Lionel Berkshire”, “MTH Big Boy”, or just a catalog number like “2522040”. All words must match, so “Lionel Berkshire” finds Lionel products with “Berkshire” in the name.
Browse Without Searching
Click Browse in the navigation to explore by category (Locomotives, Rolling Stock, Train Sets) or by brand (Lionel, MTH, Atlas O). Everything is sorted by price so the best deals are always at the top.
Use Filters to Narrow Results
On the search results page, use the sidebar filters to narrow by category, brand, condition (new/used), price range, or specific seller. You can combine filters — for example, show only new Lionel locomotives under $500.
Watch an Item for Price Changes
Click on any product to see its detail page, then click “Watch Price” to add it to your personal watch list. Visit My List anytime to see current prices on everything you are tracking. Your list is saved in your browser — no account needed.
Compare Prices Across Sellers
When a product is available from multiple sellers, you will see all prices listed from lowest to highest. The “Best Price” badge highlights the cheapest option. Each listing links directly to the seller’s website where you can buy.
Check What Something Sold For
On product detail pages, you may see a “Last sold for” price. This tells you what the item actually sold for recently — not what someone is asking, but what a buyer actually paid. This helps you know if a current listing is a fair price.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is TrainFinder free?
Yes. Searching, browsing, comparing prices, and using your watch list are all completely free.
Do you sell trains?
No. We are a price comparison service. When you click “Buy,” you go directly to the seller’s website. Your transaction is between you and that seller.
How often are prices updated?
We scan most sellers daily. Prices on TrainFinder reflect what sellers are currently listing, but they can change at any time. Always verify the price on the seller’s website before purchasing.
Why is my favorite store not listed?
We are always adding new sellers. If there is a store you would like us to include, let us know at kimsunday@commandworks.us.
I am a dealer. How do I get listed?
We would love to include your inventory. Reach out to kimsunday@commandworks.us and we will get you set up.
What scales do you cover?
We currently focus on O gauge 3-rail trains. We plan to expand to 2-rail O scale, Proto 48, and possibly other scales in the future.

TrainFinder is a free service. We earn a small commission when you purchase through some of our links at no extra cost to you. This helps us keep the site running and continue adding new features and sellers.
As an Amazon Associate, TrainFinder earns from qualifying purchases. We are also a participant in the eBay Partner Network and other affiliate programs.
Our price comparisons are based on listed prices and are not influenced by affiliate relationships. The cheapest price is always shown first, regardless of whether we earn a commission from that seller.
